Saturday, July 1st - Quarter-Final Match-ups - France and Portugal Advance

Saturday, July 1st was the second day of the quarter-final matches which ended up being two of the best matches thus far. Portugal and World Cup star Cristiano Ronaldo pulled off an upset against England and France did the same against the reigning champions, Brazil. Portugal beat England 3-1 on a penalty shoot-out. Just like Jens Lehmann was Germany's hero yesterday, Portugal goalie, Ricardo made four spectacular penalty saves. England star Wayne Rooney couldn't contain his frustration and was red-carded in the 62nd minute. Portugal will now take on France in the semi-finals. France ended Brazil's 2006 dream just like they did in 1998. France outplayed Brazil for the entire quarter-final match. Thierry Henry scored the games only goal in the 57th minute. France is the fourth team to make up the all-European semi-final line-up. We have Germany vs Italy on Tuesday, July 4th at 3pm EST and France vs Portugal on Wednesday July 5th at 3pm EST.
