Week 13 Football Picks Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 13 Football Picks - Bet Falcons vs Buccaneers - Sunday, December 5th, 4:15PM ET FOX

The week 13 football picks on the NFL betting 2010 season are out on the Atlanta Falcons vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday late afternoon football match-up. This Sunday the Atlanta Falcons head to Raymond James Stadium as a 3 point favorite to battle their NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Atlanta Falcons offense vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense slightly favors the Falcons. The Falcons are 10th in yards and 7th in points, while the Buccaneers are 15th in yards allowed and 9th in points allowed. The Buccaneers weakness is their rushing defense; they are 27th in stopping the run. This goes well with the Falcons who are 8th in the league in rushing yards. Look for the Falcons to run the ball a lot. The Buccaneers strength is turning the ball over, 3rd in the league in interceptions. However Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan doesn't throw interceptions, only 5 interceptions which are 2nd in the league. The week 13 football picks advantage goes to the Falcons.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense vs the Atlanta Falcons defense is a great matchup. The Buccaneers are 24th in yards and 23rd in points, while the Falcons are 20th in yards allowed but are 7th in points allowed. You can get yards on this defense, but it is hard to score on them. What makes this matchup interesting is that the Buccaneers strength is the Falcons strength and the Buccaneers weakness is the Falcons weakness. The Buccaneers are 13th in rushing yards and the Falcons are 6th in rushing yards allowed. The Buccaneers are 24th in passing yards and the Falcons are 27th in passing yards allowed. The Buccaneers are more of a run 1st team, but might want to throw in order to set up the running game. As long as the Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman doesn't turn the ball over, which he only has 5 interceptions, they have a great chance of winning. Surprisingly, I am going to give the football picks advantage to the Buccaneers because of Josh Freeman. He won't turn the ball over, and he will be making plays with his legs.

The special teams are also good matchups. The Falcons are 4th in kickoff return average and 4th in punt return average, while the Buccaneers are 11th in kickoff return average but are 31st in punt return average. The Falcons are 12th in kickoff return average allowed but are 29th in punt return average allowed, while the Buccaneers are 5th in kickoff return average allowed and 9th in punt return average allowed. Something has to give in this one. Field position is going to be the outcome so we have to look at which team has the better punter. The Buccaneers have a better punter in terms of average punt by 1 yard, whereas the Falcons punter has a better percentage getting the ball inside the opponents 20 by 6 percent. That is going to be the key in this matchup. The week 13 football picks advantage goes to the Falcons by the slimmest of margins.

The coaching matchup is also a good matchup. The Buccaneers have a young coach in Raheem Morris, who has this team motivated. I guess a young coach and young players is a very good match. The head coach of the Falcons Mike Smith lets his quarterback Matt Ryan change plays on the fly and do what he wants on offense. The Falcons offense looks like the Indianapolis Colts' offense as far as doing no huddles, and Matt Ryan looking like Colts quarterback Peyton Manning when it comes to changing plays at the line of scrimmage (don't worry, I'm not actually comparing the 2, but just saying what the offense looks like). I would take the guy who is coaching at the line of scrimmage and on the field with a good mind in Mike Smith, than a young coach and young players. The advantage goes to the Falcons.

My week 13 football picks on the Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday late afternoon football match-up are out. The Falcons will be running a lot with their good running back Michael Turner all game. The Buccaneers have to score touchdowns when they get into the red zone. The Falcons are one of the best in keeping their opponents out of the end zone. This game will determine that big turnover in the 4th quarter. Whichever team gets that big turnover will probably determine the winner. Both teams are great in turnover differential. I do believe that experience will come big in this game, and even though Josh Freeman has been playing well, that one turnover he gets in the 4th quarter will be the outcome in this game. The Falcons will win this one, but the Buccaneers might cover the spread, 20-17.
