Yawanna Twist Preakness Stakes Betting Odds

Big Brown trainer Richard E. Dutrow Jr. is entering Yawanna Twist into the Preakness odds. He is another fast and strong thoroughbred and Richard would love nothing more than a 2008 repeat, when Big Brown won the first two legs of the coveted Triple Crown of Horse Racing. Yawanna Twist is New York bred with strong finishes in all his starts but lacks experience. He won his first two races at Aqueduct and placed a very respectful second in both his grade III races. The current Preakness Betting Odds on Yawanna Twist are +1500 at Sportsbook.com.

Earlier in the week Yawanna Twist had a great work with assistant trainer Michelle Nevin on the mount. He completed five furlongs in 1:01 4/5 with fractions of :12 3/5 & :36 3/5, the 13th fastest of 27 at the same distance. Nevin was pleased with his performance. She replied, "It was a basic work for him. It went well."

Yawanna Twist has a 2-2-0 record in 4 starts. On March 6th he came in second in the Grade III Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct and on April 3rd he followed up with another second place in the Grade III Illinois Derby at Howthorne Race Course. Dutrow Jr. has high hopes for Yawanna Twist heading into the 135th Preakness Stakes. "We've kind of had this on our minds for a while," Dutrow mentioned. "He runs big every time we've run him. He never disappoints us." He was also glad with how big he ran in Illinois Derby. He replied, "It kind of told us where he was at."

Yawanna Twist is a 3-year-old colt, owned by Steel Your Face Stable (Jim Riccio, Jeffrey Bonner & Frank Argano). His trainer is Richard E. Dutrow, Jr. and Edgar S. Prado takes the mount for his third consecutive race on Yawanna Twist. He has a strong Preakness connection in his pedigree, Yonaguska and Twist And Pop by Oliver's Twist (second in the 1995 Preakness at 25-1 odds). Yawanna Twist is posting 15/1 odds to win the Preakness Stakes (a $100 wager pays $1500). Good luck betting on the 2010 Preakness and enjoy watching all the intense horse race betting action from Pimlico Race Course, broadcasting live on NBC this Saturday, May 15th at 6:05pm ET.
